Vacation in San Francisco

San Francisco is a unique city featuring cultural diversity, Victorian architecture and incredible sightseeing destinations. The city was built at the edge of a peninsula located between the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific coast. San Francisco’s population increased at an extraordinary rate during the California Gold Rush of 1848 and became diverse with immigrants arriving from all over the world including China.

Visitors to San Francisco will appreciate the mild climate that features dry summer months and cool winters. Also, the city was built along and over its natural landscaping, a fact that caused much of San Francisco to be constructed on hilly terrain. Visitors will appreciate the extra effort that walking around the city can entail with streets that go straight up and down hills. Guests will receive a large amount of exercise just walking from one destination to another.

New travelers to the city won’t want to miss the Golden Gate Bridge, which is among the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. For those who drive into San Francisco, the bridge is one of the major ways to arrive into the city. Also, guests should take a ride in one of the city’s popular cable cars. This form of public transportation runs between Market Street and Fisherman’s Wharf. Read the full article »

The traffic in Mexico: an adventurous madhouse

Barriers on the highway, spiders on your roof, decaying loads, cycling along the highway. It happens. The rules are different, no white lines on the road and the highway consists of a deserted road through the jungle. Dangerous? Is not too bad, but there are things you need to consider if you’re going to rent a car.

Good preparation is important

Car rental

Do the best with your tour guide. They have good contracts with well-insured (and, most importantly, reliable) car rental companies. Buy it will be at your own risk. It often takes only a few dollars extra, but saves hassle later. Do not rent through tour guide, rent a larger company and check what is included and what is not to counter surprises.
Always check the fuel level, especially after the car and walk along with an employee, so that all existing damage on the vehicle are known. Companies there have forms to sign. Let the oil level check and check all lights and turn signals work correctly, so you’re not the car for defects can be apprehended.

Crete, Greece

Crete is the biggest island of Greece. Approximately 300 km from west to east at its widest point and 60 kilometers from north to south. The highest mountain (Psiloritis) is 2456 meters high.

Along the north coast are the four largest cities. Chania, Rethymnon, Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos. These cities are connected to the main road. A kind of highway along the north coast.

The most famous and visited places on Crete Hersonissos, Malia, Rethymnon (with a lovely Venetian center) and Agios Nikolaos (whose attraction is the bottomless lake). In the tourist resorts, shops are open every day during the season from 9:00 to 23:00.

In terms of nature, you can divide the island into two parts. The western half of green hills and more planting. The eastern half with rugged rock formations and steep cliffs. On the north coast is home to most beaches. The south coast beaches are mostly pebble. On the south coast you can find the most idyllic villages.

In Crete you can also find a number of special sites. The most famous is Knossos. A major excavation of a palace near Heraklion.Other famous excavations at Malia palace, basilica and odeon in Gortys and the palace at Phaistos. But everywhere you see signs in Crete are references to archaeological sites. Many of these are worth to stop and look around.

It’s the total package of nature, the mentality of the people, the food, culture and historical background why tourist love Crete so much. One day you can lie in a hammock under a palm tree enjoying the Sun. The other day you can walk in the mountains near the ski resort and you will still see snow lying down to flanks of the highest mountains.

If you are open to the culture and treated with respect, they are willing to share with you all of it. What You really have to appreciate is the tremendous sense of values. There is a lot of respect for the elderly and women. You can walk safely late at night on the street by yourself. And you do not have to worry about your car especially in the smaller villages, you can leave it unlocked.

And also, you must like Greek food. Especially Mezes. This combined with a nice glass of Greek wine and traditional Cretan music in the background, is something you will never forget.

FUNNY CRUISE THROUGH THE CARIBBEAN

I am a dedicated care provider. This profession has its highs and lows but nothing can take away nor match the feeling of doing the good deed of caring for someone. Not too long ago, my client of 3 years asked me if I would love to accompany them on one of the best cruises through the Caribbean. Even though, I was not quite fond of boats or the rhapsody of the seas, I reluctantly accepted their proposal. My patient suffered a major head injury when he was 10 years old. That pretty much affected his brain development, but did not interfere with his growth.

On the cruise, I have to admit I truly had a great time. Throughout the cruise, my patient had me cracking up none stop. As stated above, his mind is not 100 percent up to speed but that in no way prevented him from enjoying himself. His favorite artist is Michael Jackson, so on every song that came on he wasted no time with showing off his skills. He brought a smile plus tears of joy on everybody’s face by taking over on the dance floor. On both slow songs and fast songs he had the same few moves – the leg kick and the funniest of all, the moon walk.

A New Trend: Night Life On The Croatian Coast

Increasing in popularity, the Croatian coastline is a lively and hot spot to dance the night away, sip on cocktails and enjoy the surreal nighttime beauty of the seascape views. You need only one thing before you start partying in Croatia, and that is accommodation Croatia. After you have found yourself a hotel start visiting places described bellow.

While Dubrovnik and Opatija are the most well-known names, several new hot spots are gaining favor among locals and visitors. Included in that list are Šibenik, Hvar and Zadar. Single young adults are the ones who populate these areas’ nightlife venues the most, but lately a large amount of couples have been joining the fun, experiencing all the enticing offerings for a fun night out either alone or with friends.

If Šibenik is the Croatian destination of choice, one of the hottest spots is Aurora. Capacity for 2,000 people makes this club a lively place to dance, swim and drink while enjoying a wide variety of DJ’s and music artists. Party lovers will also enjoy the lively, friendly and carefree atmosphere of Hacienda. While not as large as Aurora, the nights at Hacienda are equally exciting.

Hvar boasts one of the most luxurious nightlife venues along the Croatian coast: Carpe Diem. This location offers extensive luxurious menu selections and a very classy and inviting atmosphere. Lively dancing and great drink choices are found every night here. Many drink selections are also served with a lit sparkler. Unique sophistication are the best two words to describe this exciting location.

In Zadar, a unique spot called “The Garden” is found in the old city area. Created by several British owners, including a band member of UB40, this venue offers an exciting and fun atmosphere. The Garden is a great spot to relax and enjoy a casual and friendly environment. True to its name, this establishment is an open-air garden setting; because of this fact, it is only open during the summer months.

First Time in Brisbane

BrisbaneThis was my first time in Brisbane, as a backpacker nonetheless, and Brisbane knows how to welcome backpackers to its hip city. The activities and nightlife in Brisbane are endless, making this an adventurous trip, perfect for any backpacker. Recently, on my trip to Brisbane, my friends and I stayed in the heart of the city. If you are interested in a lively nightlife, this is the place to be.

We stayed at the Brisbane Backpackers Hostel. We selected this resort because it of its close proximity to many of the attractions in Brisbane, most within walking distance. These attractions include the Southbank, Brisbane Convention Centre and The City Centre. Additionally, the Brisbane Backpackers has a courtesy bus that runs hourly to the Roma Street Transit Centre and the Central Business District. The best part of the bus is that it is free! Vacation in Seminyak-Bali

BaliThe island of Bali in the South Pacific represents everything exotic and Indonesian. Bali is known for its sophisticated art forms, particularly dance and gamelan percussion music. Thousands of temple festivals each year feature dancers and parades. Particularly stunning is the day before the Hindu New Year when colorful ogoh-ogoh monsters are carried through the streets, and then burned to drive away the evil spirits.

Historically an agricultural economy, cultivation of rice and arabica coffee are still the primary means of employment. However, Bali has now developed a thriving tourist trade. Bali villas are available for vacationers’ lodging. Reserve luxury accommodations through chilloutbali.com. Surf The Best Beaches Worldwide

surfer-on-a-blue-waveThere are so many great options around the world when it comes to surfing. Every year someone finds a new beach in some remote territory. That beach then becomes the next big thing. While those beaches might get the spotlight for a little while, there are three beaches that have been at the top of surfers’ lists for years, and in one case, almost a century.

One stretch of beach that is relatively recent on the scene is Tamarindo, Costa Rica. This is by far the best option in Central America. The weather is phenomenal, the locals are friendly, the waves are amazing, there are world class resorts and small hotels wherever you turn, and everyone is looking to make you happy on the service side.

surfing-lifeIf you’re looking for a specific beach to go to in this area, consider Little Hawaii or Witches Rock. The waves in these locations can reach as high as nine feet. Just make sure you use caution. The rocks barely below the surface might be the reason for the big waves, but they can also cause serious harm.

Another option halfway across the globe is Jeffreys Bay in South Africa. This is otherwise known as J-Bay. It’s only a few hundred miles from Cape Town. The Billabong Pro is hosted here every July at Supertubes Beach. The waves at Supertubes are known to be extremely predictable and reach as high as ten feet.

surfing-a-big-waveThe third and most obvious option is North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii. This is also known as Wild Water. There’s a twenty mile stretch of beach where waves can reach as high as thirty feet. The Bonzai Pipeline and Waimea Beach are the most popular options.

Surfing is an exhilarating experience. Finding new places to surf is almost just as exciting.

Alaska's Majestic Mountains

auke-lakeAlaska is filled with mountains as far as the eye can see from almost anywhere in the state. It is no wonder then that the U.S.’s 49th state is home to the highest mountain in North America.

In a land of high mountains, Mt. McKinley in central Alaska, towers over all, making its neighbors appear small in comparison. At 20,320 feet high, McKinley is not as high as Mt. Everest in the Himalayas, but still high enough that it earns its name of Denali. Athabaskan natives called the mountain Denali or “the Great One.” It was given the name McKinley in honor of William McKinley who was running for president of the United States in the late 1890s. Today the names McKinley and Denali are used interchangeably for the mountain.

alaskan-fjordFlying into Anchorage on a winter day can be an awesome experience. Beautiful snow-covered mountain peaks seem so close passengers want to reach out and touch one. Anchorage itself is surrounded by mountains, the Chugach Range, which encircles the north and eastern edges of the sea, reaching down to Cook Inlet. Look across Cook Inlet to the west to see a flat, mesa-like mountain called Mt. Susitna. Locals call it the “Sleeping Lady.”

fireweed-and-glacierEast of Anchorage, a short flight by the way the crow flies, is Valdez, the southern terminius of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline. Surrounded by the Chugach Mountains on one side and Prince William Sound on the other, this picturesque city is known as the Switzerland of Alaska.

Alaska’s mountains stretch for hundreds of miles to the west, arcing out into the North Pacific Ocean, where they are known as the Aleutian Chain.
